Hi Guys!
I’m super excited to write this first blog post and I’m looking forward to doing many, many more. I’ve decided to start with coffee shops in the Gauteng area for the moment and I’m aiming to be able to give honest, informative, and reliable reviews for all you coffee lovers out there. So, finding your perfect cup of coffee, wherever you are, is only one step away.
To kick this coffee adventure off, I had some great plans to hit some new coffee shops, but then life hit back a bit harder and the week kind of just flew by, so in the spur of the moment, due to a desperate need for coffee during load shedding, I decided to go to one of my all-time favourite coffee destinations. 23 on Hazelwood is situated in The Village in Pretoria and boasts a quirky interior with seating options for both inside and outside. The ambience is friendly, relaxed, and creative with the feeling of that coffee shop bustle without feeling a bit overwhelmed or cramped.

I ordered a regular cappuccino, and I was definitely not disappointed. The presentation displayed nice latte art and cups are a great size. The preparation of the coffee was also pretty good, it was the right temperature and the foam was decent. The taste of 23 on Hazel’s coffee is definitely my favourite part, it has a strong smooth flavour and I found myself rather sad it was done after the last sip. They also offer almond milk substitute option as well as other coffee option such as a cortado, Americano, double shot flat white and flavoured lattes. And to top it off, the service -in my experience- has always been impeccable. The staff are friendly, and my coffee came within a couple of minutes.

23 on Hazel never disappoints, it’s the perfect place to get a really good cup of coffee and as a bonus they have a great menu and a delicious cake selection.
The combination of great service, coffee and ambience scored 23 on Hazel an 8 bean rating! If you’re in Pretoria, especially if you want to grab a bite to eat with your coffee, 23 on Hazelwood is the place to stop.

Yay! Looking forward to chasing down all the best coffee with you Ash!
