Hey Guys!
This week’s review is on an absolute gem. I came across Plato’s Instagram page and I instantly thought that they look like the kinda coffee shop that sells good coffee. And my sixth (Coffee) sense definitely didn’t disappoint.

Plato is situated in a charming residential area in Centurion called Irene. It’s set up in a small container by the Irene Concentration Camp Memorial Cemetery and although it’s small it’s most certainly not lacking in charm and character. The modern and minimal décor was so inviting, and the seating area consists of benches on the large lawn that surrounds, which made it feel like the perfect place to spend an entire afternoon just relaxing and sipping on excellent coffee.

I ordered the ‘Plato’ which the menu describes as consisting of three Ristretto shots and 280ml of microfoam. I was absolutely thrilled with how exact the menu was, it was the perfect way to know exactly what I wanted to order. The presentation of the coffee was really good, I fell in love with the quirky takeaway cups and the latte art was lovely. The preparation of the coffee was perfect, it was exactly what I ordered, and the taste was amazing. The menu has a wide variety of coffees such as their ‘Aristotle’ (two shots of Ristretto and 180ml of micro-foam), ‘Socrates’ (four shots of Ristretto and 410ml of Microfoam), cortado, solo cortado, cappuccino, flat white, café bonbom (espresso, condensed milk, and microfoam) just to name a few. They also offer Otlay, soy, coconut, Nolac, and almond milk alternatives.

Plato not only has great coffee, but their vision to uplift the communty is incredibly inspiring. Plato gives entrepreneurial and educational opportunities for their employees, intending to equip an employee to be able to own their own coffee shop. For more info on their mission and vision head over to their website https://www.plato.coffee/ or check them out on social media.

The service was great, the staff were friendly and super quick. Overall, the amazing coffee, service and ambience earned Plato a nine bean rating! They also have a location in Rustenburg and a mobile coffee station in Groenkloof so I would highly recommend you stop by to grab a coffee to go or to catch up with a friend. It’s also the perfect place to grab a coffee after a bicycle ride or a morning walk/run.
